Patrick "Tigur-Eye" Onochie Onwuekwe was born in Ibadan, one of the largest cities in West Africa, to Igbo Nigerian parents originally from the eastern region of Nigeria.

Early in Patrick's life, his twin sister, Patricia, passed away during a measles outbreak at just one year and six months of age. Patrick also contracted measles during the same time as his twin sister but survived. Following this heartbreaking loss, his mother gave him the middle name Onochie, an Igbo name meaning "to replace something." To her, it symbolized God's decision to spare his life and her belief that he had been kept alive for a greater purpose.

After his mother completed nursing school, the family immigrated to the United States, first living on Hoover Street in Los Angeles before eventually settling in Inglewood, where Patrick spent most of his early childhood.

As a teenager, after a shoplifting incident at a Sav-On store (now CVS) in the Ladera Center in Inglewood, his mother made the difficult decision to send him to live with his aunt in Festac Town, Nigeria in January 1993, while he was in the middle of eighth grade. Her goal was simple: to remove him from an environment where gangs and crime were becoming increasingly common and give him a better opportunity to stay focused.

Before that turning point in his life, Patrick struggled with poor decisions during his youth. He frequently shoplifted from local retailers and convenience stores, stealing clothing, candy, chips, and other items. Over time, he accumulated dozens of stolen clothing items, some of which he discreetly sold to other students while attending K–8 school in Inglewood.

Recognizing that he was headed down the wrong path, his mother made the decision to send him back overseas to his roots in the motherland — Nigeria, the homeland of his parents — in hopes of changing the course of his life. Looking back, he believes it was one of the most important decisions ever made for him.

Life in Nigeria was far different from the one he had known in Los Angeles. The experience exposed him to hardship, discipline, responsibility, and a much different way of living. Those years helped reshape his character, teaching him the value of hard work, gratitude, perseverance, and ambition. The lessons he learned there became part of the foundation for the work ethic and determination that would later inspire the creation of HUSL-CAT.

After graduating from the prestigious King's College, one of Nigeria's most renowned elite secondary schools, in 1997, Patrick returned to Inglewood, Los Angeles, California, in October 1999.

Less than a year later, on the morning of June 12, 2000, his life changed again. Federal agents raided the family home in Inglewood and arrested his mother in front of Patrick and his three younger brothers.

She was later convicted on money laundering-related charges. Patrick was 21 years old at the time. Based on his family's understanding of the events, he believes his mother became innocently involved through people she trusted.

To Patrick, his mother has always been his greatest inspiration. Within the Nigerian community, she was respected as a registered nurse, entrepreneur, real estate investor, and an exceptionally hardworking woman who earned both bachelor's and master's degrees while continually striving to build a better future for her family.

With their mother gone and their father largely absent, Patrick and his three younger brothers were forced to become financially independent at a young age. Growing up in Inglewood, where gangs and drugs were prevalent, he witnessed firsthand the realities of street life. Although he had opportunities and connections that could have led him down that path, he chose a different direction.

Instead, Patrick poured his energy into hard work, education, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. At various points in his life, he worked as many as three or four jobs simultaneously while attending college part-time, operating a small internet business, pursuing multiple side hustles, and often sleeping only one to four hours a night — sometimes even less. His relentless work ethic became one of the defining characteristics of who he is.

Since the age of ten, Patrick has been fascinated by tigers. To him, the tiger represents strength, courage, resilience, determination, focus, and an unwavering instinct to survive. It eventually became the symbol of his personal mindset and inspired the nickname "Tigur-Eye."

To Patrick, "Tigur-Eye" means looking at life through the eye of a tiger — always hungry to survive, with a fierce focus, determination, and a fighting spirit to overcome every obstacle placed in your path.

That philosophy ultimately became the foundation behind HUSL-CAT.

Patrick believes that hustle doesn't have to mean crime or negativity. To him, hustle means discipline, resilience, sacrifice, creativity, and an unshakable commitment to building a better future through honest hard work.

His hope is that his journey will inspire others to keep pushing through adversity, remain true to their purpose, and never stop believing that hard work, persistence, and faith can change the course of a life.
