Our story
HUSL-CAT was founded by Patrick “Tigur-Eye” Onochie Onwuekwe, but its story began years before the brand officially existed.
The name HUSL-CAT was originally created in 2004 after Patrick purchased a Jaguar S-Type and began brainstorming for a unique custom license plate name. Driven by his relentless work ethic—what he describes as a “Hard-Working Hustle Adrenaline” mentality—and inspired by a lifelong fascination with tigers, he combined the concepts of hustle and cat to create the name.
Because California license plates allow a maximum of seven characters, the word “Hustle” was shortened to “HUSL”, resulting in the distinctive seven-character name HUSL-CAT.
That practical limitation ultimately became the foundation of the brand’s identity.
What began as a personal expression soon evolved into something much greater.
With a long-standing passion for both music and fashion, Patrick had always envisioned building a brand of his own. In 2008, after receiving constant compliments and questions about the name displayed on his license plates, he decided to transform HUSL-CAT into a clothing brand.
He began by sketching the first version of the logo himself before having a friend help refine and redraw the final design. Wearing the logo throughout clubs, social gatherings, and everyday life, he quickly noticed growing interest from people who were drawn to both the name and its symbolism. Those early reactions confirmed that HUSL-CAT was more than a license plate—it was a brand worth developing.
In the early years, only a very limited number of pieces were produced for Patrick and a small circle of close friends. Rather than rushing into mass production, he chose to keep the brand exclusive while continuing to study the business side of fashion, including design, finance, execution, and long-term brand strategy. His goal was to build HUSL-CAT carefully and intentionally, with a vision of eventually taking the brand to a global audience.
HUSL-CAT is dedicated to those individuals who work hard daily in their lives.
Whether you’re working a 9-to-5, balancing two or more jobs, earning a living in a blue-collar or white-collar profession, raising a family as a single parent, juggling college with side hustles, building a business, pursuing your passion, or finding positive, creative ways to make a living, or just doing whatever you got to do for that cream—your hustle deserves to be recognized.
If you work and grind hard at whatever you do, then you’re a HUSL-CAT.

Mission Statement
To provide a brand that people can express themselves through—a brand that represents you: the multitasking, motivated, ambitious, and determined individual who works hard to make ends meet.
The HUSL-CAT Manifesto
We believe hustle is universal.
It has no color.
No title.
No age.
No background.
It belongs to anyone willing to outwork yesterday.
We honor the early mornings.
The late nights.
The sacrifices no one sees.
The failures that become lessons.
The discipline that becomes success.
We believe every honest hustle has value.
Whether you’re building a company, raising a family, mastering your craft, earning a degree, working multiple jobs, creating art, serving your community, or chasing a dream that only you can see—you deserve respect.
HUSL-CAT isn’t about where you started.
It’s about the determination to keep moving forward.
This is more than a brand.
It’s a mindset.
A commitment.
A way of life.
Work with purpose.
Move with confidence.
Never stop grinding.
Be relentless.
Be authentic.
Be a HUSL-CAT.
